    Contenuti

Tecniche di farmacologia di base, modelli animali di nocicezione e dolore cronico, modelli di ansia e depressione, valutazioni comportamentali e elettrofisiologie in vivo

    Testi di riferimento

principles of neural sciences, Kandel, Schwartz, Jessel

    Obiettivi formativi

    Contents

Basic pharmacology techniques, animal models of nociception and chronic pain, anxiety and depression models, behavioral and in vivo electrophysiology assessments

    Textbook and course materials

principles of neural sciences, Kandel, Schwartz, Jessel

    Course objectives

Learning of neuropharmacology and neurophysiology techniques for the evaluation of the efficacy of active molecules on chronic pain and related comorbidities

    Prerequisites

Knowledge of physiology, biology and biochemistry

    Teaching methods

Laboratory exercises with theoretical insights on applied neuropharmacology

    Evaluation methods

The student will have to demonstrate that he has learned the basic methods of neuropharmacology and neurophysiology of pain. The verification takes place through an oral interview in which the questions will focus on the methods observed by the student in the laboratory.

    Other information

neurotransmission and neurobiochemical substrates involved with chronic pain

    Course Syllabus

    behavioral techniques:
measurement of the tactile and thermal threshold of pain through von Frey tests (tactile allodynia) and Hargreaves (thermal hyperalgesia); Tail suspension test and forced swimming test for measuring depressive-like behavior in rodents; Stereotaxic implantation techniques
